The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children have published children and young people who engage in technology-assisted harmful sexual behaviour (2018) study.
The study used and analysed data from Turn the Page service, which supports children and young people aged 5-18 who display harmful sexual behaviour. It further looked at the prevalence of technology-assisted harmful sexual behaviour across the service between January and October 2015 (275 cases). Study also did an in-depth analysis of case file data from a sample of 91 boys and young men.
The study aimed to understand;
- how many children and young people participating in their service for harmful sexual behaviour have engaged in technology-assisted harmful sexual behaviour.
- their backgrounds and characteristics.
- links between technology-assisted harmful sexual behaviour and offline harmful sexual behaviour.
- how professionals respond to technology-assisted harmful sexual behaviour.
