Description:
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) have published an evidence-informed framework for children and young people displaying harmful sexual behaviours (updated 2019) which aims to support local areas develop and improve multi-agency responses to children displaying harmful sexual behaviour.
The framework intends to support a coordinated, systematic and evidence-based approach to recognising and responding to the risks and needs of those children and young people.
The framework is split into five domains that cover the essential elements of developing and delivering an integrated and effective HSB service for children, young people and their families:
- A continuum of responses to children and young people displaying harmful sexual behaviour.
- Prevention, identification and early assessment.
- Effective assessment and referral pathways.
- Interventions.
- Workforce development.
The framework seeks to help commissioners, strategic leads and lead safeguarding professionals from any sector to improve their local area response to harmful sexual behaviour.
