Criminal Exploitation Safety Planning Tool – County Lines Pathfinder (November 2022)

Summary:

County lines pathfinder have produced a criminal exploitation safety planning tool, aimed at managers to use in collaboration with case holders.

Description:

County Lines have shared their criminal exploitation safety planning tool and short summary aimed at managers in youth justice services. The tool is designed to support managers who supervise staff to take a harm minimisation approach and consider:

  • Trauma within the context of safety planning for children,
  • Principles and skills required to approach this area of practice,
  • Some safety planning ideas that may be helpful both online and, in the community,
  • The importance of enforcement and disruption.

County Lines present a significant risk to children experiencing exploitation. Exiting a line can increase the risk of harm to a child and their family. The tool will help managers to consider the different scenarios a child may be exposed to – from the start of the exploitation, right through to those who are trapped and compelled into drug supply.

Please note that access to the safety planning consultation tool is via the restricted area of the Resource Hub, youth justice practitioner portal. Access is restricted to managers in youth justice services, you can get the access key from Catherine Bennett.
