The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence have published guidance: harmful sexual behaviour among children and young people (2016), which aims to support children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour, including those on remand or serving community or custodial sentences.

The guidelines aims to de-escalate and reduce children and young people being charged with a sexual offence. It also aims to ensure individuals are unnecessarily referred to specialist services.

The guidance is intended for use by a a wide range of professionals with with children, young people and their families/carers.
