Hammersmith and Fulham YJS’s Weapons Awareness Workbook
Summary:
Hammersmith and Fulham Youth Justice Service has shared its weapons awareness intervention workbook to work with children who have been caught carrying offensive weapons.
Description:
This weapons awareness workbook has been designed to support children on a 1:1 basis, after the service recognised an increase in children unable to access group work sessions.
The workbook supports children to consider the individuals factors that led them to carry a weapon, their feelings, and covers the legislation around carrying weapons. The workbook includes a number of cases studies and scenarios, which aim to provide a space for reflection and discussion on the implications of their actions for those involved and to consider the perspective of others. The intervention pack also has a pre and post questionnaire to consider the impact of the intervention on supporting children on their desistance journey.
