Leaflet for Children: What Your Rights are as Young People in Secure Settings and Knowing What the Law is on ‘Off Rolling’ in Schools’ – South and West Yorkshire Resettlement Consortium (January 2022)
Summary:
Children in Adel Beck Secure Children Home, have created a leaflet highlighting the rights of all children in secure settings in regard to education placements and education, health and care plans.
Description:
Adel Beck Secure Children Home produced a leaflet; what your rights are as young people in secure settings and knowing what the law is on ‘off rolling’ in schools. The aim of the leaflet is to support the development of understanding for children and professionals of educational placements and education, health and care plans (EHCP) for children in secure settings.
The leaflet is available to children in secure settings. Further work is being carried out to explore if the leaflet can be included in the information available to children in Youth Offender Institutes.
The leaflet was created as part of the ‘live brief’ programme run by Adel Beck’s graphic design accreditation programme where children are engaged in ‘mini enterprise’ type activities in a number of subjects that support work-related learning in addition to subject qualifications.
