Supervision Policy for Staff - Buckinghamshire Youth Justice Service (September 2015)

Summary: Buckinghamshire youth justice service have shared their supervision policy used with staff members. 

 

 

Description:

Buckinghamshire youth justice service have developed a supervision policy that is based on ‘critical reflection’ principles, which was advocated in the Munro Report as achieving best outcomes for service users. Staff members are provided the opportunity to discuss events and the lessons that can be learnt from them. Such a format is believed to support improving practice.

High quality supervision provides the worker with opportunities to reflect on their practice and to plan their professional development. Effective supervision ensures that staff feel valued, prepared, supported and committed, and the quality of staff supervision is fundamental in staff retention.
