Summary: | Youth Custody Service have shared key safeguarding contact list and a slide pack concerning matters of concern, safeguarding concerns, allegations and complains for matters relating to children in custody. |
Description:
The Youth Custody Service (YCS) have produced matters of concern, safeguarding concerns, allegations and complaints slide pack (reviewed in April 2022). The aim is to help clarify and inform colleagues regarding matters of concern, safeguarding concerns as well as allegations and complains processes.
The Youth Custody Service have also produced a key safeguarding contacts pack (updated February 2023) which should be used to support communication and information sharing.
A matter of concern, is a concern raised by an external stakeholder or family member in relation to the quality of care or provision a child is receiving whilst in youth custody (including escorts). All concerns must be raised with the specific establishments in the first instance. If a satisfactory response is not received this can then be escalated as a Matter of Concern.
The Youth Custody Service matters of concerns policy was reviewed in January 2020 following several recommendations from the Youth Custody Service safeguarding review.
If you have any questions concerning the process please contact, Lauren Brothwood (07976 795690) from Youth Custody Service Safeguarding Team.
