NOMS Intervention- Life Minus Violence-Enhanced (July 2016)
Summary:
This programme is designed to reduce the risk of repeated aggression in children.
Description:
LMV-E is a NOMS YPE Approved intensive cognitive behavioural Intervention (Prison Service Order [PSO] 4350: Effective Regime Interventions: Young People- Annex) created to focus on participant- strengths in order to reduce future aggression.
For children, LMV-E supports them to identify their thoughts and behaviour that leads to aggressive behaviour, so they can choose alternate methods in responding to these situations.
It is particularly useful for children who have a history of repeated aggression and are motivated to change their behaviour. This intervention targets reactive (i.e. impulsive) violence and instrumental (i.e. goal orientated) violence.
LMV-E consists of seven modules which can be delivered either in a group or individual basis, taking nine months and approximately six months to complete, respectively.
Pre Training requirements:
- NOMS Intervention Services Core Skills assessed training (4 days)
- LMV-E specific training (6 days): delivered by external providers
