Child First in Theory and in Practice YJB Live Session - Lancashire Youth Justice Service and Lewisham Youth Offending Service (November 2020)

Summary:  Attached are the slides and link to the recording of the YJB live session from Lancashire and Lewisham concerning child participation and working in a child first way.

In November 2020, Lancashire Youth Justice Service and Lewisham Youth Offending Service participated in the YJB Live session to talk about the work that they are undertaking around embedding child-first participation and co-production.

Lancashire YJS’s presentation is mainly concerned with the running of their child first diversion scheme, whereas Lewisham YOS describes how it has implemented and is working towards achieving a whole system approach that is child first when working with children across all key services.

The following link Child first – in theory and practice takes users to YouTube where you can view the live session.

The live session is split into three core areas:

  • Introduction from professor Neal Hazel around child first guiding principles
  • Presentation by Lancashire Child and Youth Justice Service ‘embedding child first participation and co-production’
  • Presentation by Lewisham Youth Offending Service ‘child first – whole system approach’

Attached is the power point presentation used during the live presentation.
