YJB Live Session: Over-Represented Children in the Youth Justice System (November 2020)

Summary:  Attached are the slides and link to the recording of the YJB live session from the over-representation of children in the youth justice system.

 

 

Description:
In November 2020, Islington Youth Offending Service, Blackburn with Darwen Youth Justice Service and YJB colleagues run the YJB Live session on over-representation of children in the youth justice system was run together with YJB colleagues.

The session is split into four main categories:

  • Introduction by Keith Fraser, YJB Board Chair (session chair)
  • Update on the latest data: the national picture - Adam Mooney, YJB Programme Manager, Over-represented children
  • The Disproportionality Project: Addressing issues relating to the disproportionately high representation of Islington and Haringey’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic children in the Criminal Justice System - Curtis Ashton, Acting Director of Youth and Community, Islington Youth Offending Service
  • Traveller Young People and Disproportionality within Blackburn with Darwen Youth Justice Service - Glenda Astley, Area Team Manager, Blackburn with Darwen Youth Justice Service
