West Berkshire youth offending service has two Gypsy, Roma and Traveller sites within it’s geographical area, with some of those children coming into contact with the youth justice system.

As part of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month, West Berkshire, have also developed a short quiz  (with answers) that can be used in team meetings to support raising awareness.
The training has been a positive step toward supporting and building good relationships with families from a Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community.

• Staff received yearly top up awareness sessions both provided by external experts and created in house, such as example attached above.

• West Berkshire YOS have a noticeboard in the office, to support visual awareness

• West Berkshire YOS have a staff member with who leads on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community awareness raising.
