Just for Kids Law have created a new handbook, Police Records: A Guide for Professionals.

This document covers the collection and keeping of records by the police, including the circumstances that will trigger a crime record being made and the time scales they are kept for. It also covers the process review and deletion of police records and the disclosure of records on Disclosure and Barring Service Certificates (DBS). This document also covers the disclosure of information on DBS Certificates issued for foreign travel and working abroad. It also includes guidance on the processes of challenging the keeping and sharing of police records.
