  • To ensure children entering the Youth Justice System have their Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) needs considered and supported by effective joint partnership working between Future 4 Me and SEND Teams.

The protocol sets out clear expectations and responsibilities for each team when supporting children with an Education Health and Care Plan, to promote effective communication between teams to provide effective support and meet the expectations of the SEND reforms and the HMIP inspection framework.

Below are the following documents:
Joint protocol between Lincolnshire Future 4 Me YOS and SEND Teams – to support partnership work and clarity of roles
Quality assurance tool – created to ensure practice supports HMIP framework expectations with regard to children with SEND who are open to the Youth Offending Service and to inform a plan of development as required.

The Protocol and the QA tool have also provided supported evidence in Future 4 Me being awarded the SEND Quality Mark by Achievement For All in conjunction with the Association for YOT Mangers.

Implementing the practice:

  • The Quality Audit tool is completed by Lincolnshire YOS auditing team to determine areas of good practice as well as areas of development.
  • Following the completion of the Quality Audit tool, an overview report of findings and recommendations is created and shared with both YOS and SEND teams.
  • Regular review meetings are held with SEND team colleagues and YOS in order to develop service in line with the protocol and to create and implement a development plan to reflect the findings from the Quality Audit report.
