Recruiting, training and retaining volunteers policy from Blaenau Gwent & Caerphilly Youth Offending Service
Summary:
Blaenau Gwent & Caerphilly Youth Offending Service’s comprehensive volunteering policy explains the approach and processes underpinning volunteer recruitment and retention.
Description:
This volunteering policy outlines the key processes involved in recruiting, selecting, training and retaining volunteers. It covers recruitment and application procedures, inductions and screening, as well as supervising volunteers, health and safety and advice on resolving difficulties.
While there are costs involved when recruiting volunteers, including room hires for training, conducting DBS checks and the salaries of dedicated volunteer coordinator roles, Blaenau Gwent & Caerphilly recognises the many benefits of volunteers in youth justice services, namely that volunteers can significantly increase the size and available skills of the service, in turn leading to better outcomes for children.
Has the practice been evaluated?
The practice has not been evaluated, however internal audits have been completed to ensure that the YOS volunteer scheme complies with HR safe recruitment standards.
