Targeted Speech and Language Assessments for Primary and Secondary School Children at Risk of Suspensions – Milton Keynes Youth Justice and Support Service (February 2023)

Summary

Milton Keynes youth justice and support service have shared an overview of their promoting reintegration and reducing exclusion model which is part of their prevention and diversion service.

Description 

Milton Keynes youth justice and support service have shared an overview of their promoting reintegration and reducing exclusion (see below for the slides) project, which offers primary, secondary and further education providers in Milton Keynes, free speech and language therapy provision in order to identify any additional needs for those children and young people identified by the school as being at the greatest risk of school suspensions and managed moves to alternative provisions.​

The model includes involves offering assessments to educational providers and providing free SLCN training which is delivered by our Speech and Language Therapists and Senior Educational Psychologist who is attached to Milton Keynes youth justice service.​

Milton Keynes have also shared a short presentation (see below for the slides) detailing an overview of their youth diversion and prevention service, of which the promoting and reintegration and reducing exclusion model is part of.

The presentation was part of child first effective partnership practice webinar ran by Microlink Education Focused Solutions.
