Trauma and wellbeing
There is wide youth justice sector interest around the impact of attachment, trauma and adverse childhood experiences on children in the youth justice system and the relationship to their offending behaviour.
Trauma-informed approaches aim to work with children to help them to feel physically and emotionally safe, to develop trust, to take account of their preferences and incorporate their input into decision-making. In creating collaboration, children may become empowered to maximise their strengths, capabilities and potential.
This section provides information about how trauma-informed practice is developing and resources that can support it. it also contains information regarding drug and mental wellbeing resources.
