Newport youth justice service has developed a detailed process to ensure all victims (personal and corporate) of children referred to the service are consulted and offered an opportunity to receive high-quality restorative interventions that meets their needs.
Description:
The guidance outlines the restorative intervention process, which includes discussing a range of restorative options with victims, such as offering a face to face meeting, letter of explanation, direct or indirect reparation and updating of progress. It also highlights safeguarding risks involved in restorative interventions with victims, and advises how to close down interventions safely in cases where safeguarding risks or other barriers make it unmanageable to continue the process.
Newport youth justice service’s Victim Hub have also shared a PowerPoint to use with children to support two way understanding between themselves and victims, and a record of participation form.
