Resettlement in England and Wales: Key Policy and Practice Messages from Research (2012), attached below, summarises the lessons learnt from several evaluations of custody and resettlement initiatives. Published by the Youth Justice Board, it translates the research findings into a list of clear and relevant recommendations to inform current resettlement practice.  The report has also been used more recently by HM Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP) as the basis of its criteria for inspecting resettlement services.

The messages can be read together with Beyond Youth Custody’s model of service delivery for sustainable resettlement support, written by the same authors: Now all I Care About is my Future: Supporting the Shift (Framework for the Effective Resettlement of Young People Leaving Custody (2017).
